Vegas
Ive been back from Vegas for 10 days now.
It was really nice to play 2 WSOP tournaments, although I didnt make a cash in either one and both times I played ~10 hours to finish just outside of the money.
It's just really important to make an early (first 2 levels) double up in those tournaments, as they start with 90bb and without a double youre playing a 15-30bb stack (my favorite).
At least I didnt make any mistakes in the tournament although I'm still not sure about my bustout hand in my second WSOP tourney, I openshoved J8s on the button with about 16bb and got called by ATo in the BB. In retrospect I think I should have opened to 2.5x and fold to a shove.
Before Vegas I hardly played any live poker at all and I was a little scary that I might give away a lot of tells, but after playing a few hours (especially with cash) I noticed that I had nothing to be afraid of.
Especially in the cash games it was really easy to put people on hands, they played their hands completely face up and as Ive never seen anybody valuebet 'lightly' they just were always polarized in bluffs or monsters.
I had to say though, that the level of play in the WSOP tournaments was higher then expected. Offcourse I had some good tables as well, but especially my last table in the $1500 was pretty good (if you see no limping at all and an average age of 25 you know its not the best table availabe).
The cash tables I played on the other hand were very, very soft (I played 2/5).
One of the funniest hands I saw was a japanse guy vs the most competent player at the table, they were playing around $1700 effective stack.
He called a preflop reraise in position with KQo and they saw a flop HU (pot was ~$200). Flop was 9TJr and the japanese guy, who was sitting next to me bet $200 and got called by him, he clearly wasnt happy with the flop and even showed me his cards! On the 6 turn he made a $200 bet again and the other guy went allin pretty fast. The Japanse guy was complaining out loud and showed the whole table his cards and after the clock was called on him he called off the rest of his stack. $3500 pot it is...
Online grinding
After playing live for 10 days it was nice to play online again and be able to play 1000 hands an hour again. As there wasnt much action on Everest I played some rushpoker again on Full Tilt. In total I played around 65k hands already (40k on FT and 25k on EVP).
After a few weeks without playing online Im playing really good again. A break does miracles for my game most of the time. It also helps that Im finally running good again. Im beiung up ~55 buyins now (10 above EV).
Im also curious to see what happens with Everest when the French are not allowed to play anymore there (end of june). It cant be good for the games.
That was my update for now, gonna watch some tennis and football now!
